BREATH TESTING FOR GUT CONDITIONS AND FOOD INTOLERANCES
This test is available at Remedies B’Kara
The Gastrolyzer®️ consists of a breath analysis monitor that can help to find the cause of your gut discomfort, such as flatulence, bloating and nausea.
A Gastrolyzer®️ breath test is a quick, reliable, non-invasive mode of testing. It works by measuring the level of hydrogen and/or methane on your breath that is produced when your gut breaks down food. Based on the levels of these gases, it can help to determine if you have a condition, such as food intolerance, malabsorption or bacterial overgrowth problem. Once your doctor or dietitian has your hydrogen and/ or methane breath levels, they can advise you how best to treat your condition. This may be through changing your diet, lifestyle, taking medication, or a combination.
Preparation for the breath test
It is important that the patient preparation is followed so that a true baseline reading
can be measured.
Up to four weeks before the breath test:
24 hours before the breath test:
On the day of the breath test:
Breath testing process, direct to the monitor:
Provided you have completed the patient preparation, including fasting, you will be
asked to provide an initial breath test. This will be your baseline reading. Once you have
your baseline reading, you will be given a solution to drink.
Then, depending on what condition you are being tested for, you will be asked to follow
a protocol by providing further breath samples at certain times.
Hydrogen & Methane Breath Testing (HMBT)
The bacteria in your gut will produce more hydrogen and/or methane when it is reacting
badly to something you have ingested. A doctor/dietitian can compare your breath
samples after you have drunk the solution to your baseline reading to help find the
problem and advise you on the best course of action.
HMBT with the Gastrolyzer®️ range can help reach a diagnosis for:

Allergies to pollen, dust mites, animal dander, and foods can have a negative impact on the well-being of individuals. An allergy is a disorder caused by an exaggerated IgE-mediated immune response to allergens.
Allergy and related diseases are extensive and rapidly growing problems affecting up to 30-40% of the world population and if left untreated can lead to severe diseases such as dermatitis, rhinitis, asthma, conjunctivitis, and anaphylaxis. Symptoms of allergies include difficulty in breathing, rashes, swelling, runny nose and vomiting.
At Remedies our rapid allergy test covers some of the most prevalent allergies.
The test uses a modified Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay that detects specific IgE antibodies. Allergy test is particularly well-suited for patients being treated with antihistamines. The test is straight forward and minimally invasive by means of a simple pin prick to identify the degree of allergen sensitisation. Visible results are available in as little as 15 minutes.
Find out which foods might be affecting your health and well-being.
Foodprint is a blood test that shows if our bodies are intolerant to some foods. Food intolerance or non-allergic food hypersensitivity is a negative reaction to a food, beverage, food additive, or compounds found in foods. Foodprint is a highly sensitive and accurate laboratory test that is the first step in identifying which foods may be causing an inappropriate immune response and affecting your health.
Intolerance produces symptoms in one or more body organs and systems. It is not a true food allergy. A true food allergy requires the presence of immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against the food, whereas food intolerance is usually associated with the presence of food-specific immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies. Symptoms of food intolerance are often delayed for many hours or even days and for this reason it is often hard to identify the problem foods. The Foodprint test can identify the foods that cause this delayed sensitivity by detecting food-specific IgG antibodies.
Symptoms
Often patients report multiple symptoms such as gut pain with headaches and skin rash. Common Symptoms include:
How it Works:
Our Nutrition team is also here to help, if you have a query about your results or the test, or would like a personalized dietary plan based on your results.
At Remedies we offer 2 types of food intolerance testing. These include:
Food Detective® is a point-of-care test that screens for the presence of IgG antibodies to 59 common foods, giving results in 40 minutes. FoodPrint® is a laboratory-based system which utilises an innovative, colorimetric microarray-based ELISA technology for the measurement of food-specific IgG antibodies in human serum or plasma for over 200 different foods. Both systems use specific food extracts to identify the corresponding level of circulating IgG antibodies to these potential antigens and can therefore detect foods to which the immune system is reacting.
For a sports person every day out-of-training due to injury produces several deconditioning effects including muscle atrophy, decreased strength, lower aerobic fitness and other detraining effects.
By having all the sport-related medical staff that one might require after suffering from a sports injury all under one roof and at the same time means that the presenting problem will be tackled from every possible aspect. The screening of an athlete is used to identify the musculoskeletal condition of that individual. If carried out initially during the pre-season training period, it can provide a set of baseline values for the athlete’s database or personal physical profile.
Repeat screenings throughout the season can then identify any physical changes. This is particularly important with a growing and developing skeletal system.
At Remedies, we offer a screening package that includes a:

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple and painless test used to measure the level of electrical activity and rhythm in your heart. Sensors are attached to the skin on the chest, arms and legs to detect the electrical signals produced by your heart each time it beats. ECG is used to quickly detect heart problems and monitor your heart’s health:
Before an ECG, you may need to have your hair shaved or skin cleaned so the electrodes stick on your body properly. Also, if you are wearing an underwire bra, you might be asked to take it off as it could affect the readings of the ECG.
A stress test, also called an exercise stress test, shows how your heart works during physical activity.
A stress test or exercise stress test can determine your risk of having heart disease. It assesses how your heart works during physical activity since exercise makes your heart pump harder and faster this test may reveal blood flow problems within the heart.
A doctor performs the test. The doctor will learn how much your heart can manage before an abnormal heart beat rhythm kicks in or blood flow to your heart muscle drops. During an exercise stress test you will be asked to walk on a treadmill. The level of exercise will become increasingly difficult. Your ECG, heart rate, and blood pressure will be tracked throughout to enable the doctor to assess and it lets your doctor know how your heart responds to being under stress.
