PRP

Platelet-Rich Plasma or PRP is a cutting-edge regenerative treatment giving lasting and natural results. PRP treatment uses your own blood cells to drastically improve the appearance of your skin. This procedure is relatively painless, and results are evident as early as three days after treatment. This procedure became increasingly popular following celebrity Kim Kardashian’s ‘Vampire Facelift’ procedure. PRP has become a common skin rejuvenation and anti-aging treatment that reduces wrinkles, sagging and dark circles, while healing skin damaged by acne, injuries and stretch marks. The PRP also attracts water, giving an improved look to wrinkles, and giving more volume to the face.

PRP (or platelet rich plasma) is a medical procedure that involves withdrawal of a small blood sample. The small blood sample taken from the client is then subsequently separated by means of a centrifuge, achieving a golden yellow liquid that is full of platelets, plasma and growth factors which are involved in tissue regeneration, as well as vitamins and minerals. When PRP is injected into your skin, the injected growth factors and platelets will ignite the process of regeneration within the deep facial lines, wrinkles and improve the texture of your skin.

Since the aim of PRP is to fix any skin issues, when injected in areas with hyper-pigmentation it will help to reduce the problem. It is also useful for the removal of stretch marks and cellulite.

It is the treatment of choice for bags of sagging skin and discolouration under the eyes, as well as the neck, the breast area, and the hands, where traditional hyaluronic acid fillers are not technically feasible, with a high degree of success and client satisfaction.

PRP is a treatment that is performed up to eight consecutive sessions, with each session four weeks apart. There is no downtime after each session as there are no outward signs of any procedure having been performed, with no bruising or sutures.

FAQs

The client is assessed for suitability for the procedure by the aesthetic doctor. A small blood sample is taken painlessly by the doctor, the blood is concentrated in a specific machine (centrifuge), and the concentrated cells and growth factors are used on the areas chosen for the treatment.
PRP is mainly used to drastically rejuvenate the skin and make it look younger, fresher, without wrinkles and to tackle hyper-pigmentation, without using substances foreign to the body. It is mainly used for the face but can also be used on the neck and hands. It also has a role in hair regrowth, based on evidence-based medicine, as well as in the management of stretch marks and cellulite. It is particularly useful for bags under the eyes, the neck, and the hands, where traditional fillers cannot be used.
It takes about 45 minutes each session to put local anaesthetic cream, take blood sample, centrifuge it and inject it in the area targeted for treatment.
Minimal discomfort from the injection, warmth and redness which pass within 24 hours. No allergic reaction can happen as it uses the client’s own cells, with no risk of problems or allergies arising.
No pain is experienced except for minimal discomfort from the injection needle used. The doctor is trained to make the PRP procedure as painless as possible.
Results occur within 4 weeks from the first procedure. The more PRP sessions are performed, the better the result, and the result keeps increasing with more PRP sessions performed (cumulative & additive effect).
2-4 sessions are the minimum necessary to achieve a satisfactory result. For hair regrowth and for more complex skin issues, up to 8 sessions may be performed. Sessions are 4 weeks apart. You will have a follow-up visit after each session to be reviewed by the medical team performing the procedure. The effects of PRP are not permanent but effects can last up to 18 months in an average with a maximum of 2 years as the longest reported effect. However, most may resort to a re-touch of the treatment once a year.

Jett Plasma

Jett Plasma is state-of-the-art technology that’s used for skin tightening and non-surgical skin lifting. It is used for non-surgical eyelifts, eye bags, tightening skin on the neck and around the mouth, hand rejuvenation as well as mole, skin tag and wart removal.

Unlike many of the other plasma devices on the market, the Jett Plasma pen uses a direct current (DC) rather than an alternating current (AC) which allows it ‘scan’ the skin as well as dot. This means it is more versatile, can be used over larger areas without creating as much damage and the downtime can be less than that of other plasma devices.

Area: Around the eyes, neck, hand

Treatment Plan: Single Treatment lasts 12 months

FAQs

The Jett Plasma treatment uses ‘plasma’ – the fourth state of matter after solid, liquid and gas. It is an ionized gas that becomes highly charged and acts almost like a little lightning bolt that effectively vapourises or ‘sublimates’ the excess skin leaving a fine crusting that disappears after a week or so. The removal of the excess tissue and the heat generated effectively tightens the skin and boost collagen production. Jett is a low-temperature plasma device which means it can be used on the person’s face and body. Because the current is continuously in one direction it has an advantage over the alternative current versions in terms of control and the size and depth of the area is meets. This means the treatment is more precise and the downtime may be shorter.
Jett Plasma offers a non-surgical alternative to many skin conditions that previously only surgery could achieve. The procedure can be used for: Non-surgical eyelid lifting (non-surgical blepharoplasty) Removal of creases or wrinkles around the mouth (smokers’ lines) and eyes (crow’s feet) Removal of skin tags, fibromas, and warts Improving acne scarring Reducing pigment spots Reducing stretch marks and loose skin Skin lifting and tightening on face, neck and body including brows lifts and crow’s feet Hand rejuvenation. In addition to removing excess skin to give a lifted effect it also promotes collagen production for a long-term skin rejuvenation benefit. It does not require a general anaesthetic and many procedures can be done in less than an hour, with results that can last up to five years.
A local anaesthetic is usually given, this may be an injection or a via numbing cream, depending on the area being treated. For example, mole removal will need an anaesthetic injection while the non-surgical eyelift will usually be done with numbing cream. When the plasma connects with the skin there may be a sensation of heat. Depending on your pain threshold this may be mild discomfort which subsides as soon as the procedure is over. The eye area and the area around the mouth can be quite sensitive and may be more painful.
Side effects include inflammation and flushing of the treated area which may last for two up to three days. Around the eye area it may last longer – up to ten days and there may be swelling that may last a few days. Sleeping with some extra pillows to keep the head elevated can help. There will also be crusting or small dot like scabs on the skin which will last for a week to ten days. It is important not to pick or scratch the area and allow the crusts to disappear without interference. If it is a mole that has been treated an area equivalent to the size of the mole will crust. The scab will drop of within 1-2 weeks. Do not put any makeup on for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

Dermal Fillers

As we age, the skin on our faces begins to sag and develop wrinkles. This is because the skin loses elastin, collagen, fat, and most importantly hyaluronic acid. How quickly your wrinkles develop, and how pronounced they become, is partly due to genetics and partly due to environmental factors, e.g., sun exposure and lifestyle. For centuries women have sought methods of combatting the ageing process and reducing facial lines to keep the skin as smooth as possible, and now the treatments available are some of the most effective ever.

Dermal fillers can be very helpful in those with early signs of ageing, or as a value-added part of facial rejuvenation treatments in conjunction with Botox® and PRP.

Dermal fillers are injectable anti-ageing agents, which are used to diminish and fill facial lines and wrinkles, as well as restore volume and fullness to the face. Dermal fillers can be used to:

  • Plump thin lips or enhance already full lips
  • Enhance shallow contours
  • Soften facial creases and wrinkles
  • Improve the appearance of recessed scars

FAQs

At Remedies Clinic, we use state of the art fillers including Juvederm®, Belotero®, Teoxane® and Restylane®. This treatment is a particularly effective treatment because it acts directly as a substitute for the body’s own hyaluronic acid. It is designed to work with the layers of skin, rather than on them, and as such it produces dramatically improved results in the skin quality. This treatment adds volume specifically wherever it is needed, and it is also one of the most effective non-surgical cosmetic enhancements available on the market. Which areas can be treated? The hyaluronic acid works by smoothing away folds and wrinkles most effectively around the nose and mouth area, which is where most of these signs of ageing are more prominent. It also reduces and softens facial lines across the forehead and around the eye, leading to a rejuvenated look.
The process itself is a simple one. Treatment areas are identified, and then fine needles are used to administer small quantities of hyaluronic acid under the skin. It acts virtually immediately to create a lift in that area, which reduces or eliminates any lines or folds, depending on the severity of them and the results last for up to 12 months.

Botox

Wrinkles are an inevitable part of the natural ageing process. As we get older our skin gets thinner, drier and less elastic. Eventually, wrinkles, creases and lines form on our skin resulting in a tired and dull appearance.

Cosmetic Botox® is an established and effective rejuvenating treatment to reduce the appearance of these lines and wrinkles in both men and women. Botox® is an injectable drug used for subduing the action of muscles; as a result, it softens and reduces the appearance of wrinkles on the face resulting in a younger and fresher look.

Botox® for Excessive Sweating

Hyperhidrosis is a condition that is characterised by abnormally excessive sweating or perspiration that is not related to heat or exercise. It is classified as either primary or secondary hyperhidrosis. Primary hyperhidrosis is not due to any underlying reason and can result in excessive sweating in the underarms (axilla), palms and feet. There is usually an associated family history. Besides disrupting normal daily activities, this type of heavy sweating can cause social anxiety and embarrassment.

Botox® is the most effective treatment for hyperhidrosis. This treatment is particularly done on the armpits (axillae) and on the palms of hands and soles of feet. At Remedies, injectable treatments are carried out by an experienced aesthetic doctor specially trained to give you the best possible results.

FAQs

Cosmetic Botox® is used to treat the areas around the eyes and forehead, most commonly, frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet wrinkles. During the consultation with our aesthetic doctor a facial analysis will determine which areas require treatment with Botox® and how much is needed for the best results.
Botulinum Toxin Type A (Botox®) injections relax the muscles causing the compression of the skin. Botulinum Toxin Type A is composed of a natural, purified protein, and it is most injected in the muscles between the eyebrows, the forehead and around the eyes. By stopping the muscle movement that cause wrinkles, Botox® injections can also prevent static lines from becoming deeper by stopping the compression of skin.
If static lines or lines at rest are already present, then Botox® injections generally do not reverse these and platelet rich plasma (PRP) will be needed. However, the application of Botox® injections at regular intervals gives the skin a rest from compression, and often static wrinkles may improve slightly over time. Botox® can be used in conjunction with PRP to help treat both static and dynamic wrinkles taking a holistic approach to facial rejuvenation.
Treatment with Botox® injections involves having a number of small injections in the targeted areas. The aesthetic physician will decide how to precisely inject for best results. The process takes only a short time to perform. The needles used are extremely fine, and only a small volume is injected. The discomfort experienced is minimal and very well tolerated. After the injections, you will gradually notice relaxation of the muscles treated. This can start at 2-3 days but may take up to two weeks to be very noticeable. Normal activities may be resumed after treatment. However, you will be instructed not to exercise or touch the treated areas for 4 hours so as not to spread the injected Botulinum Toxin Type A further than intended.
Botox® generally lasts for about 4 to 6 months; sometimes longer however this may vary from one individual to another. It is also common for those treatment with Botox® to last longer on the second treatment than with the first treatment.
Botulinum Toxin Type A works by preventing the release of a chemical that signals the sweat glands to activate.
The area to be treated is identified. Even though the procedure is not considered to be painful, a local anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to make the treatment even more comfortable. The underarms (axillae) are the most common areas treated by Botulinum Toxin Type A injections and 50 units of the product on each side are usually administered.
After treatment with Botulinum Toxin Type A you will experience around 80% reduction in sweating and the effect will last for around 6 to 7 months.

Skin Boosters

‘Skin Boosters’ are an alternative way to nourish your skin. They are specially designed to be injected superficially into the surface of the skin to deliver deep skin hydration. By increasing the hydration levels within the skin, Skin Booster results in a long-lasting moisturised and improved skin surface resulting in a more radiant and fresher look.

Treatment Plan: Three sessions 2- 4 weeks apart

FAQs

Skin Boosters can be used to treat a range of areas including the face, neck, décolletage, and hands. They are most commonly used on the lower face and are a perfect treatment for smokers’ lines. Skin Boosters increase skin hydration and improve skin texture around the mouth, chin, and lower cheek.
The natural aging process starts from our twenties onwards whereby there is a reduction in the production of the natural Elastin, Collagen and Hyaluronic acid by the fibroblasts within the skin. Skin Boosters is a course of treatment, three sessions 2- 4 weeks apart that uses micro injections to stimulate the skins fibroblasts and encourage increased production of the skin’s natural moisturisers. This in turn increases cell turn over, which gives a lasting effect to treatment. The addition of Hyaluronic Acid acts as a plumping and firming agent, giving the skin a more youthful, radiant appearance from within.
The treatment with Skin Boosters typically takes 30 minutes. It does not affect facial expression and the benefits can normally be seen over the following days. Skin Boosters is a course of treatment, three sessions 2- 4 weeks apart. Three successive sessions should last around 12 months.
Skin Boosters product related reactions are rare. There are some injection related reactions which may occur after any injection; they typically resolve spontaneously a few days after injection to the skin or within a week after injection into the lips. These reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site.
