PRP

Platelet-Rich Plasma or PRP is a cutting-edge regenerative treatment giving lasting and natural results. PRP treatment uses your own blood cells to drastically improve the appearance of your skin. This procedure is relatively painless, and results are evident as early as three days after treatment. This procedure became increasingly popular following celebrity Kim Kardashian’s ‘Vampire Facelift’ procedure. PRP has become a common skin rejuvenation and anti-aging treatment that reduces wrinkles, sagging and dark circles, while healing skin damaged by acne, injuries and stretch marks. The PRP also attracts water, giving an improved look to wrinkles, and giving more volume to the face.

PRP (or platelet rich plasma) is a medical procedure that involves withdrawal of a small blood sample. The small blood sample taken from the client is then subsequently separated by means of a centrifuge, achieving a golden yellow liquid that is full of platelets, plasma and growth factors which are involved in tissue regeneration, as well as vitamins and minerals. When PRP is injected into your skin, the injected growth factors and platelets will ignite the process of regeneration within the deep facial lines, wrinkles and improve the texture of your skin.

Since the aim of PRP is to fix any skin issues, when injected in areas with hyper-pigmentation it will help to reduce the problem. It is also useful for the removal of stretch marks and cellulite.

It is the treatment of choice for bags of sagging skin and discolouration under the eyes, as well as the neck, the breast area, and the hands, where traditional hyaluronic acid fillers are not technically feasible, with a high degree of success and client satisfaction.

PRP is a treatment that is performed up to eight consecutive sessions, with each session four weeks apart. There is no downtime after each session as there are no outward signs of any procedure having been performed, with no bruising or sutures.

FAQs

The client is assessed for suitability for the procedure by the aesthetic doctor. A small blood sample is taken painlessly by the doctor, the blood is concentrated in a specific machine (centrifuge), and the concentrated cells and growth factors are used on the areas chosen for the treatment.
PRP is mainly used to drastically rejuvenate the skin and make it look younger, fresher, without wrinkles and to tackle hyper-pigmentation, without using substances foreign to the body. It is mainly used for the face but can also be used on the neck and hands. It also has a role in hair regrowth, based on evidence-based medicine, as well as in the management of stretch marks and cellulite. It is particularly useful for bags under the eyes, the neck, and the hands, where traditional fillers cannot be used.
It takes about 45 minutes each session to put local anaesthetic cream, take blood sample, centrifuge it and inject it in the area targeted for treatment.
Minimal discomfort from the injection, warmth and redness which pass within 24 hours. No allergic reaction can happen as it uses the client’s own cells, with no risk of problems or allergies arising.
No pain is experienced except for minimal discomfort from the injection needle used. The doctor is trained to make the PRP procedure as painless as possible.
Results occur within 4 weeks from the first procedure. The more PRP sessions are performed, the better the result, and the result keeps increasing with more PRP sessions performed (cumulative & additive effect).
2-4 sessions are the minimum necessary to achieve a satisfactory result. For hair regrowth and for more complex skin issues, up to 8 sessions may be performed. Sessions are 4 weeks apart. You will have a follow-up visit after each session to be reviewed by the medical team performing the procedure. The effects of PRP are not permanent but effects can last up to 18 months in an average with a maximum of 2 years as the longest reported effect. However, most may resort to a re-touch of the treatment once a year.
