Laser Hair Removal

Proven results. Fast Treatment Times.

Say goodbye to unwanted hair with our Laser Hair Removal treatments. Laser Hair Removal has been a welcome alternative to traditional hair removal methods such as shaving and waxing. Laser hair removal is not only faster, more convenient, but provides a permanent solution. Spending your money on regular expensive wax treatments, shaving creams, razors or other methods of hair removal will no longer be necessary after beginning your laser hair removal journey. Despite the upfront cost, you will end up saving more by not spending for alternative, frequent procedures. Not only would you be saving money but also time.

There are many clinics that advertise laser treatments, however at least 50% of these are not offering laser at all. These clinics have the less sophisticated IPL or Intense Pulse Light systems that have been seen to be less effective than laser in a vast range of treatments. At Remedies we use the latest Gentle Hair Removal technology by Candela proven to give 80% permanent hair reduction after as little as 3 treatments.

Gentle Hair Removal is a laser treatment targeting the hair follicles with intense laser light energy for thermal destruction but without damaging the surrounding tissue.  The Gentle Hair Removal laser targets the hair follicle with intense laser light energy for thermal destruction to provide permanent hair reduction over the course of a few treatments. With fast treatment times, Gentle Hair Removal ensures additional comfort through its patented Dynamic Cooling Device™, which uses cooling bursts of cryogen over the treatment area.

At Remedies, we always start with a consultation and test patch with our internationally trained laser specialist to assess your skin, hair type and suitability for this treatment. During the consultation the laser therapist will also guide you toward the best treatment plan tailored to suit your needs. At Remedies we pride ourselves on offering fast treatment times and excellent results at very competitive prices.

Treatments take place in your practitioner’s office. Your practitioner will use a small handpiece to deliver an intense but gentle burst of energy onto targeted areas of the skin. Therapeutic heat removes unwanted hair. What makes be a suitable candidate for Laser Hair Removal? Ideally there is a high contrast between skin colour and hair colour. In cases where the hair is very light, or the skin very dark, results might be compromised somewhat.
A treatment can take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the treatment area and the condition being treated. Both legs can often be treated in as few as 15 minutes, as can an average-sized man’s back.
Some patients may feel slight discomfort, which has been compared to snapping a rubber band against the skin. This discomfort resolves quickly and is minimized by our patented Dynamic Cooling Device. Be sure and talk this over with your practitioner.
Multiple treatments are required to achieve the full hair removal effect. The hairs on your body are not always at the same stage, so you’ll need to undergo a few treatments, an average of six to eight weeks apart, to catch them all in the growth stage.
For about six weeks prior to treatment, you should avoid plucking, electrolysis or waxing. On the day of your treatment, skin should be clean-shaven and thoroughly cleansed of any makeup, creams, oils, topical anaesthetics or self-tanning products. Apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) before your treatment. Do not expose the treatment area to sunlight or tanning booth light prior to or immediately after treatment. If you have a history of herpes simplex virus, a prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed.
A cool compress or gel pack may be applied for additional comfort after your treatment. Any redness or swelling should resolve in a few hours.
After your laser treatment, prevent sun exposure by applying sunblock (SPF 30 or above). In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers. Your practitioner may advise additional precautions.
Permanent side effects are rare and may include redness, swelling, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering and purpura (laser bruise) in the treated area—these usually do not last more than a few days. Your practitioner will have more information about potential side effects.
